Me llamo Humberto Suárez Diez, tengo 72 años, fui diseñador y prototipista del Centro de Diseño de las Industrias Locales (CDIL) en Camagüey (Cuba) donde vivo. Comencé a trabajar con los recursos no alimentarios del mar como se orientó en aquel entonces (1987) y me refiero a conchas, sigua, caracoles, coral negro, entre otra gama de misceláneas marinas.
Pertenecí también al ACAA (Asociación Cubana de Artesanos y Artistas), por muchos años, donde continué los trabajos con los caracoles, que en conjunto con piezas de coral negro han permanecido conmigo por más de 25 años como colección única y exclusiva. Solamente la pieza gruesa de Coral Negro, según los biólogos marinos, tiene alrededor de 500 años, y no se trata de una mercancía cualquiera que esté sujeta a una valoración por pesaje o cantidad, puesto que ?el arte no se norma?. En mis cautivadoras obras hay miles de horas trabajadas y como sabiamente versa el proverbio: ?El precio de la mercancía lo da el trabajo realmente necesario invertido en ella?, unido esto a la riesgosa fragilidad que presenta el caracol, teniendo en cuenta su dureza, así como la parte artística, y por qué no, lo original.
Otro proverbio reza diciendo: ?Lo raro es caro?; mis trabajos lo han visto biólogos, curadores, metodólogos del arte como Nazario Zalazar, entre otros conocedores de la materia, haciendo una valoración comercial de un monto considerable. Inclusive uno de los directivos de INFOTUR en La Habana, me sugirió que fuera del país, podría valorarse en quién sabe cuánto, si se negociare con un millonario o un coleccionista en una subasta, puesto que es una línea de artesanía que dada su autenticidad y legalidad es posible que sea la única de su tipo en el mundo.
En cuanto a las leyes ecológicas, mi obra está totalmente exenta de su jurisdicción ya que cabe decir, que eso de la ecología, surgió muchos años después de la creación de mis trabajos.
Anexado a este artículo envío mí catalogo personal, en el cual de una manera breve y concisa, Nazario Zalazar (Especialista del FCBC y actual Vicepresidente de la ACAA) relata y valora parte de mis conocimientos y experiencia en mi trayectoria artística.
Mi intención consiste en que quisiera que estas artesanías nacidas de mi amor y consagración al arte (una colección de más de 40 piezas), se comerciaran de manera justa, siendo receptivo ante cualquier proposición de los interesados en estas bellas reliquias que son valuarte de mis proyecciones artísticas y profesionales en general; además de ser orgullo e identidad de mi país. As environmental laws, my work is fully exempt from their jurisdiction and that is true, that ecology emerged many years after the creation of my work.
